PLATES
Carbon steel plate has many applications in manufacturing. One example where steel plate can be found is in the manufacturing of vessels. Because of this they offer the ability to withstand tremendous weights and pressures. Arco steel offers many different sizes, widths, lengths and specifications for steel plate.
Specifications
ASTM A36 is a Carbon Steel that is used in general plate applications when the plate will be riveted, bolted, or welded. ASTM A36 is produced to chemical and mechanical properties that offer a minimum yield of 36 KSI and a tensile range of 58 KSI to 80 KSI on plates up to 8 inches thick.
ASTM A572-GR 50 is a High Strength Low Alloy Steel that is used in general plate applications when the plate will be riveted, bolted, or welded. ASTM A572-GR 50 is a Columbium-Vanadium Steel that offers a minimum yield of 50 KSI and is used whenever a cost savings from a weight reduction can be gained.
AR400 Abrasion Resistant Plate are impact and abrasion resistant steels that offer much longer usage life over lower carbon steel plates (i.e. A36), in applications where abrasion, impact and wear are a concern. Available in two hardness’s: AR235 for moderate resistance applications and AR400 for higher resistance applications. These grades of steel are not intended to be used for structural or load bearing applications. Should not be considered for applications where there will be a high degree of welding being done to the parts due to potential cracking problems. Can be machined and will take a moderate amount of forming and rolling. Excellent choice for when abrasive aggregates are being used. Typical applications include: mining and earth moving uses, liners, mixing drums, material handling, chutes, hoppers, etc
SHEETS
Arco Steel offers many different sizes, widths, lengths, and specifications for sheet.
Specifications
Hot Rolled Sheet: A Commercial Quality, low carbon steel that is soft enough to bend flat on itself in any direction without cracking. The surfaces of these sheets have a normal mill oxide and are used in applications where surface finish is not critical. Conforms to ASTM A-1011.
Hot Rolled High Strength Low Alloy Sheet: A Hot Rolled Sheet which offers a much higher Yield Strength and more corrosion resistance than a Hot Rolled Commercial Quality Sheet. These sheets are two to four time more corrosive resistant than low carbon steel sheets and offer a Yield Strength of 50 KSI. The increased strength of these sheets makes them a good choice when a weight reduction is necessary. Sheets conform to ASTM A-606.
Cold Rolled Sheet: A Commercial Quality, low carbon steel that offers tighter thickness tolerances and better surface quality. These sheets are soft enough to bend flat in any direction without cracking. The deoxidized surface offers an excellent surface for painting after the sheets are cleaned. The surfaces of theses sheets are slightly oiled to protect from rust. Conforms to ASTM A-366.
Galvanized Sheet: A Commercial Quality, low carbon sheet that is coated with a protective layer of zinc. The zinc coating on these sheets offer a substantial increase in corrosion resistance over an uncoated Hot Rolled Sheet. These sheets can be formed without the zinc surface flaking or peeling. Galvanized sheets can be welded or soldered. Various coating weights, spangle sizes and ASTM specifications are available; please call the Arco Steel office for details.
